I volunteered 3 weeks for STCC in July 2019 and it’s been the experience of a lifetime! I have learned so much about sea turtles, how to preserve them just by being a little more earth-conscious.
The team was so nice and eager to give me advice anytime. They gave me the opportunity to work on various tasks: monitoring beaches, helping with kid activities about plastic and turtles, talking to tourists about turtle nesting and good behaviour towards turtles, cutting and recycling plastic, etc… It felt so good taking out the plastic from the beach in the morning and help recycle it in the afternoon with Green Phoenix. So satisfying!
I realized that many things are connected and little actions can be so helpful for the ocean.
When I left STCC to go back to France I saw this in Curacao airport: «A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.» – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
It can never be truer!
